Status Partially Found

Calimero (カリメロ Karimero?) is an Italian/Japanese cartoon about a charming, but hapless anthropomorphized cartoon chicken; the only black one in a family of yellow chickens. He wears half of his egg shell still on his head. Calimero originally appeared on the Italian television show Carosello on July 14, 1962, and soon became a popular icon in Italy.

The character has had multiple animated adaptations in Italy, France, and Japan, with one of the rarest being the first Japanese anime series made by Toei Animation, which ran from October 15, 1972, to September 30, 1975. Episodes dubbed in European languages as well as in Arabic can be found online, but none of the original Japanese episodes have surfaced, and only the opening and ending sequences are available. Unfortunately, unlike the second anime series made in 1992, there are no known VHS or DVD releases of the 1972 series in Japanese. There were 47 episodes made; a list of 45 of the episodes with Japanese titles can be found here.

Both openings and endings can be found here.

The Dutch anime fan Tyrozaphy apparently has the master tapes of this series currently, though it's unknown if it's the Japanese version or the Dutch version...

I sent him a message on his YouTube page, though, so hopefully he responds...

Time for me to join the discussion as well. I am a fan of lost media and I visit this site a lot, so it's funny to see my name being mentioned all of the sudden. KristoHam, you got my attention as I think you are also the same person who commented on my videos and messaged me about this instance.

Regarding to Calimero, I do have indeed master copies, though those are tape transfers. To be honest, It strikes me that Calimero is considered mostly lost. It was broadcasted for years in the Netherlands and I have tv recordings of it as well. The versions I have are with Dutch dubs, I don't have the original Japanese version. I have one episode at the moment as a digital file, I have yet to digitize other footage of this anime.
