Cartoon Network "City" (partially lost bumpers; 2004–2007)

Status Partially Lost

In June 2004, Cartoon Network debuted an updated version of its original logo (with the checkerboard motif retained and the "C" and "N" being the centerpiece) and a new slogan, "This is Cartoon Network!" The bumpers introduced as part of the rebrand, produced by Animal Logic, featured 2D cartoon characters from its shows interacting in a CGI city composed of sets from said shows.

During April 2006, there was a revamp of the CN City look using flat, dark, psychedelic colors, and a male announcer replacing the previous one (Nikki). This was presumably done to go along with Cartoon Network's "YES!" campaign they were running at the time, featuring characters from their shows acting out behind a red background. These updated City bumpers continued until June 2007.

While many of these bumpers are available on the Internet, several of them have yet to be found. The 2004-06 bumpers are fairly common, whereas the 2006-07 ones are comparatively rare. It is unlikely that they will all ever be found, as there are hundreds of them floating around.

Bumpers in general are difficult to find. Often times they're created to be used in a specific time for a specific purpose, and after that time and purpose are expended, they become basically useless to studio heads.

I just read up a bit more and it looks like the bumpers from 06-07 are the most rare. It just happens that the tapes I have are indeed from 06-08.

However the tapes with 2008 footage will not have any CN City footage because CN City was ended around mid 2007.

yeah, i think in 2008, they used the new "noods" bumpers that would be a precursor to "check it"

Try watching videos of commercials from the time period, some videos are over an hour long.

I've seen some lost stuff in there before. I'll check it out, but there's no way I'm watching all of them from 2004-2007.

Hi, guys, I have something to share with you, you see as a big fan of the City Era I contacted many people who worked on it at Animal Logic (including the company itself), unfortunately they don't have the rights to publish the bumpers as it is property of CN. And except one guy, none has the bumpers, this one guy has confirmed to have an almost complete collection of the bumpers (in their original HQ version, way better than the low quality recordings found on youtube) he already started uploading them 6 months ago on vimeo, he has confirmed there are more than 1 hour and a half of bumpers (imagine the beauty of playing them back-to-back, they are truly gorgeous), if you guys want to see and have them as much as I do, let's show this guy we really care! Like them, write a comment under one of his videos (of the bumpers he already published) or a private message! The more people he sees is keen on them the faster and more he will upload! He is most likely the only chance we have to recover this beautiful era (as CN doesn't seem to care much, wrote many emails myself). I added and edited the audio effects, music and general soundtrack myself to those lacking it. Either from scratch or by taking the audio of the recordings found on youtube, but those that were completely without it and of which no recording has been made, I had to do it all myself from scratch, it took me ALOT of time and of course I will gladly keep doing it when more bumpers appear if necessary. Also, it seems Animal Logic recognizes the value of the work so they published a video of the bumps not long ago, probably to see how the fans responded, leave a comment and like the video, so maybe they will be motivated enough to ask directly cartoon network the permission to release them (that's probably why they published it in the first place). Let's show some support guys!! ;) Support our brave and kind uploader (serach geoffvster vimeo on google)

Support Animal Logic's video (serach cartoon network animal logic on google, and go for the youtube video)
