Fantastic Four, aka Fant4stic, is a 2015 film following the titular comic book heroes.[1] The film was met with harsh reception, earning a 9% on RottenTomatoes and a 27/100 Metascore.[2]

Director Josh Trank has openly stated his dissatisfaction with the film, announcing how his cut of the film was rejected by the studios in favor of a dumbed-down version.[3] This has been confirmed in some ways by several deleted scenes from the trailers.

It is currently unknown whether or not this cut of the film will be officially released or if it even exists anymore.

Yeah, continue believing Trank's lies. The film's ending was originally ridiculous and poorly done, putting production out by almost an entire year due to necessitating reshoots. Kate Mara has natural hair in some shots and the world's cheapest wig in others, literally because she didn't think she would have to come back to the movie once the original production wrapped up.

Anyway, Trank's behavior got really erratic in early 2015. Probably stress, but seriously, dude decided to throw an almighty temper tantrum in a house he was renting in Beverly Hills and caused well over $30k in damage. That's not the sign of a professional auteur director... More like a horrid and immature moron...

Though Trank being taken off the project (in effect) is, according to ComicBookGirl19, part of a trend in Hollywood where young directors of well-received indie films and shorts are given the rein to gigantic franchises such as this one. They then have little room to complain, they have to follow studio mandate or else be replaced or have their reputation tarnished (nobody wants to be labelled "difficult to work with"), and generally they bear the majority of the blame if the film flops, despite their best efforts. There's rumors that Trank even wound up locked out of the editing suite.
