Il Trenino nel Pianeta Favola is an Italian children's film released in 1980 that was produced and distributed by URBS Film. It was adapted from a 1978 television series aired on RAI titled Il Trenino (which is also lost). A two-tape edited version of this movie titled Il Trenino delle Favole also exists. A DVD of the Italian version of the full film supposedly exists, though no scan of it exists.

In 1985, Harmony Gold released an English dub of this movie titled The Little Train. The dub was released on home video in the UK as part of the "Kids Cartoon Collection" and again as a standard release by MasterVision. The dub was supposedly also released in the US on VHS by J2 Communications according to a YouTube comment, but again, no scan of the tape exists. A Mexican Spanish dub titled El Pequeño Tren was released in the US on VHS. There also exists a Greek dub titled Μικρό μου τραίνο and a Hebrew dub titled רכבת הקסמים, both of which had VHS releases. A Finnish dub of this movie exists according to a YouTube comment, though its title is unknown and no known home media release exists.

On August 22, 2016, YouTube user John has uploaded the entirety of the English dub to YouTube (albeit with a portion missing that can be seen in an off-air clip of the Greek dub and in the Italian video below). On April 22, 2017, the first half of the Italian dub was uploaded to YouTube. A trailer for the Greek dub is also available.

More people need to frequent the VHS section in British charity shops. There are so many obscure cartoons and programmes

Not really. It may have been true many years ago, but having worked in charity shops... a lot of VHS tapes get thrown away these days, or sent to a recycling centre.

The Little Train in it's own right looks to have all the tales in it's own releases as well as the main release as a full film under 2 different Italian titles.

Heres Tin Soldier the final tale on it's own as a one tale on Italian VHS with the alt title of the full movie included in the title.

Spanish Alt and wose hand drawn Cover to the well known one but availble to buy Spanish one is a rare Harmony Gold edition in it's own right.

Shame none of the ones available are the 2 English ones preferably the MasterVision as the KCC had crap audio and a not so good picture on this film and was well known for that but at least some editions are actually popping up again in various places now.

That Greek one tale one was a Harmony Gold edition by the way as it had that drive you round the bend synth music at the start of the end of 1st tale to watchable 2nd tale transition just thought I'd state that in case you wanted it to be a Harmony Gold edition but to be fair all editions are rare even the Italian one with almost certain different music to the HG editions now as only the one tale copy of the soldier one is being sold of that currently and that is under it's original title banner before it was modifyied a bit to become Il Trenino nel Pianeta Favola.

The Italian theme music is on vinyl and listenable on YouTube and it's not the same tune as it has singing and a completely different background music although the in movie soundtrack after it might be the same who knows.

I found somw place selling the Italian original cheaper than ebay now and it's both parts too but as it's so sparse and spreads over 2 tapes as the full one is so long it will still take you back 40 euros for buying both editions and owning the full film to archeive. The original Italian version is 120 minutes long and seems to only be out spreading on 2 tapes and the english seems to be 90 minnutes on one tape so possibly missing a complete tale of footage over the original version.

Way better than mine. My true 1985 copy may have the same washed out picture as this 1987 copy but mine has drowney mono audio too although it is even rarer due to it's Blue case and being the true first KCC copy even though my cover is battered.

MasterVision is still probably the best one if anyone has it due to KCC probably being a budget tape 2 tape with a different logo slapped on it's even missing the intro of the theme which was probably the music on top of the MasterVision logo in the original knowing the daft ways cheap editing works.

Still it now exists thats the main thing although it probably should be archeived too in case the YouTube goes as it's a deleted film and all and maybe with the good english sound we have now merge it with the Italian DVD to make it even better than even the MasterVision one.

Good luck Gilby1385. Hope you find one wth no tears so we can get the full thing. Peferibly MasterVision if you can as the KCC had crap audio in my ones case and crap video in his ones case and low grade tapes on both ones tapes.

Last time the MV one was on ebay 1 year ago I seen the tape inside the box in a picture and it has BASF also known under the names of Scotch and EMTEC on the head one of the best tape brands in the UK along with JVC although I guess the head could also have been smashed and they put a BASF one on it that is possible too especially when they are trying to hide Harmony Gold.

Lost sub brand MasterVision are more expensive than ther budget KCC tapes but the brand is so lost even the logo of it is lost which is a shame as I love logos too.

There are still a few EL Cheapo Harmony Gold rare lost films on MasterVision like Brave Frogs Greatest Adventures where although it's on the rarer brand it's cheaper on that one so the lost logo can be got by pickng up other lost Harmony Gold films.

Normal Brave Frog is as common as muck as it was done on Intersound Animations own labels MV, KCC Parkfield Playtime and a 3rd party label Hemsdale being the most common but Greatest Adventures is lost and even the YouTube is too crap from a TV Screen that it doesn't count as a release of the lost film out of the 2.

Some proof on this other lost film being on Master Vision cheaper than KCC and it's still available funnily too to buy.

Although who would want to buy it unless you are into posting and watching lost films rubbish or good as the first one was rubbish so this might be worse.
