Mega Man Anniversary Collection, originally known as Mega Man Mania, is an unreleased compilation of Mega Man video games for the Game Boy Advance.

In 2003, Capcom announced the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the Playstation 2, Gamecube, and Xbox game consoles. The collection would be a compilation of the eight console Mega Man games with a few extras. A companion collection titled Mega Man Mania was also announced for the Game Boy Advance, which would instead feature the five Game Boy exclusive Mega Man titles with extras, updated and colorized accordingly. The games titled was eventually changed to Mega Man Anniversary Collection, and it was slated to release alongside its console brethren. [1]

The game was frequently delayed. It was rumored that Capcom had lost the source code for the original games and was forced to reprogram portions from scratch. There was also a rumor that the collection was moving to the Nintendo DS, rumors that Capcom neither confirmed nor denied.[2] Eventually the game was cancelled "indefinitely."

"which would instead feature the five Game Boy exclusive Mega Man titles with extras, updated and colorized accordingly." "though emulated in their original states" It's not quite the same.

This isn't found. I don't know why it's listed that way.

I'm confused about this being found too. It's great that Capcom decided to release the first 5 Mega Man games on the Nintendo 3DS' Virtual Console, but it's clearly not the cancelled Game Boy Advance version of those games.

Also, the rumors of Capcom losing the source code for the first 5 Mega Man games isn't really the reason why this compilation was cancelled; It was actually due to the Game Boy Advance's declining sales and Nintendo moving on with their new handheld system: the Nintendo DS. Capcom probably didn't want to move their work on porting their emulations of this compilation to the Nintendo DS and decided to cancel all of their work on it.

If that were the case, how we are still able to receive both home console and handheld system ports on the Nintendo GameCube, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U?

Yeah I feel like unless this particular collection turns up somewhere this shouldn't be listed as "Found." I mean otherwise, it was never lost at all since people all over the world still have the original GB carts, which serve the same purpose as the VC releases.
