Status Lost

Nickelodeon Blimp is a lost short made by Nickelodeon. The short premiered on April 2, 2005, and was originally created for commercial breaks at the 2005 Kids' Choice Awards. However, the short was rebroadcast twice: for the 2007 and 2015 Kids' Choice Awards. No footage has been released online.

Synopsis

SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary the Snail are walking down the street when an orange blimp falls from the sky. SpongeBob gets excited, but then asks Gary, "What's a blimp?"

This is the supposed transcript of the short, provided by Wikia user Dlkrabs:

Ben Stiller: OK, kids, are you ready.

Kids: Aye aye Ben Stiller.

Ben Stiller: What?

Kids: AYE AYE BEN STILLER...

Ben Stiller: ----, here we go.

Narrator: Ahh, Bikini Bottom, fresh city to go to and what next, let's go.

SpongeBob: Are you OK, Gary.

Gary: Meow.

SpongeBob: What we gonna do?

SpongeBob: (excitedly) Yes! (to Gary) Uhhh, what's a blimp?

Gary: Meow.

Ben Stiller: OK, thanks for the clip.

Is this the same short for when SpongeBob won favorite cartoon that year or the year prior? I remember a very similar thing where the blimp falls on spongebob, he reads that it's a kid's choice award blimp, he gets all excited, and then he asks "what's a blimp?" If you find the 2005 or 2004 KCA in it's entirety, you might find the clip.

Here's a bizarre find. I found a recording of the 2005 Kids' Choice Awards here: https://arch...ils/KCA2005A . They begin reading the nominees for Favorite Cartoon at 25:34. The four nominees that year were SpongeBob SquarePants, Ed, Edd n Eddy, The Fairly OddParents, and The Simpsons. The recording appears to have been edited to cut out when the name Spongebob Squarepants is read. Furthermore, when Spongebob Squarepants is announced as the winner, it also appears that the section of the screen that says "Spongebob Squarepants" has been deliberately blurred in the recording. And again, there appear to be more cuts and edits to the recording after the announcement of the winner (including cutting any sort of acceptance speech) to remove any and all references to Spongebob Squarepants.

Really strange. I'd love to know who made those edits and why.

Perhaps it was done to avoid getting the video blocked by Viacom.

Shouldn't be too hard to find this. Just need to get a home recording of the KCA.

That archive version is quite weird. It's as if the author deliberately meant to keep this clip lost.

https://www....ds0/featured I found a guy that claims to have all the KCA from 2005. I asked him if he has the short ready for upload.

This is the same guy who cut the short out of the footage currently uploaded. I doubt he'll release it.

Just checked his 2007 one(the same uploader as the 2005 one), he also cut out all SpongeBob references.

I don't think the 2015 one has it, however, I will watch it, as I recorded it on a tape around 2016, and didn't cut out commercials. If it's on there, I'll say something. If it doesn't I will also say it.

I watched the 2015 KCA when it aired, and I don't remember this clip. Could just be my memory, though.

I have the 2015 KCA; it's not in there. The SpongeBob Wiki is incorrect.

I skimmed through the 2007 KCA and couldn't find anything, though it's uploaded by the same guy as the 2005 so it might be deliberately cut. https://arch...ails/KCA2007

I'm pretty sure I recall seeing this some time ago. Maybe contact Stephen Hillenburg or Paul Tibbit...? Or perhaps any of the Spongebob staff may have it?

They could be in possession of this Spongebob short and have put it away somewhere if its been stored in any form, like on tape, flashdrive or a file storage of some sort. It could be anywhere.

Find an email address for any of them, or at least for Nick and ask them.

The only archives I can find of the 2005 and 2007 KCAs have Spongebob completely removed for some reason. I can't imagine it has anything to do with copyright, since uploading the rest of the KCA is arguably worse than uploading a few seconds worth of Spongebob. I'll try again later, though. Maybe exodus has it.

Half of the stuff on this site is rare, not lost

Well, they usually tell if its rare, if you want to complain, go ahead, or if you want to change it, uhh idk, make a account and you could get someplace, i'm just to lazy to make a account myself. And if it's rare, it's still kinda lost..

Just depends on the "Rare" Media that is spoken about, Some rare media is lost, and some is not.
