Dora the Explorer is a popular Nick Jr. children's series that ran new episodes from 2000 to 2015.[1] There are two known pilot episodes that haven't surfaced online. One is referred to as "Pilot Episode" and the other is the test pilot. These pilots show early designs for Dora and a different appearance for her sidekick, Boots.

Not much is known about "Pilot Episode." The plot is allegedly about Dora and Boots' journey to a giant cupcake. The characters included in this episode also include Backpack, Map, Swiper, Benny, Isa, Tico, Grumpy Old Troll, Mami, and Papi. Dora's early clothing was different: a purple shirt and blue pants, while boots had purple skin, a light-purple face, and green shoes. This pilot was finished on June 12, 1999.

Footage of the Test Pilot has surfaced online, but there is no audio in the video. The test pilot debuts Dora's final design, but an early version of Boots is still included.
