Casey's Cave (partially found "Minecraft" series based on creepypasta; 2012-2013)
In 2012, YouTuber, TheBrothersMachado posted a video titled Casey's Cave. The video was a narration of a Minecraft creepypasta he made up, accompanied by footage of the entrance of the cave. The story revolves around the player's first experience of playing Minecraft on his Xbox 360, describing his adventures and surviving his first night. However, things take a turn when he encounters a cave and finds a missing woman who resembles the girl from the horror movie, The Ring. After encountering the girl, he seals off the cave and vows to never return to the cave again.[1] The creepypasta became pretty popular in the community, and TheBrothersMachado would make follow-up videos of the creepypasta. However, one of the viewers will be inspired by the creepypasta and create his own series based on the creepypasta.
The Series
Casey's Cave was a Minecraft series based on the creepypasta of the same name, created by ECWGaming (now known as ScareTheater's second channel). The channel had no notable videos apart from the series which spanned 11 episodes from 2012-2013. It followed the protagonist, collecting and discovering discs to piece together a mystery surrounding a missing person named Casey.[2] The first episode was uploaded on October 22nd, 2012, titled "I FOUND CASEY'S CAVE!" which follows the original creepypasta. The next episode, titled "Casey's Cave - Entry #1" is about the protagonist re-enters the cave in diamond armor and documents his findings on the cave. Near the end of the episode, the protagonist finds a chest while running away from the monster, containing a single disc, and later in the series, he uncovers 11 other discs which help him solve the mystery with Casey.
The final episode was uploaded on September 21st, 2013 where ECW and his friends discovered the unsettling truth of Casey's Cave that Casey became the monster that haunted the cave. In the description of the last episode, ECW reveals that he had to end the series early due to not creating new episodes for personal reasons, and also adds that the series is all fake.[3]
Availability
The series will stay up until 2019, when ECWGaming was renamed to ScareTheater2 and all videos including Casey's Cave was deleted.
On November 3rd, 2022, user DjDeadpig uploaded a video on Casey's Cave and included a clip of the first episode, though it was edited due to a YouTuber commenting about the creepypasta. DjDeadPig also discovered a screenshot of the series, from an old Minecraft sharing site using the Wayback Machine, and the entire transcript of all the episodes.[4]
As of 2024, outside of the aforementioned clip, no other footage of the series has resurfaced online.
