It might be a good idea to clarify that this show wasn't considered controversial at the time. The criticism of the show was that it wasn't good. '[D]ue to mass criticism' reads like the show was canceled for an unusual reaction to controversy that the show generated. Fox would have loved it to have generated publicly at the time. It was critically panned and largely ignored by the public.
