This was nearly a year ago, so my memory is a little fuzzy and I'm probably getting some of the details incorrect.

While I was having a meeting with two mutual friends to discuss a film shoot we had planned, Last House on Dead End Street came up. I think this was in response to us talking about film preservation and restoration companies like Vinegar Syndrome. One of them, who is a filmmaker, collector, and avid fan of the independent and underground horror community, started talking about the different releases the film had. He brought up that the film ran over three hours initially, and that the production was mostly unknown until nearly 20 years ago as nearly everyone involved went under an assumed name - Roger Watkins included, who is credited as Victor Janos.

At some point during the discussion, he brought up an acquaintance in the community who is either a collector or has worked with a restoration company who came across an unknown film reel, presumably among many others in storage. The reel was labeled as "Slaughter" or "Slaughterhouse", and upon examination, the reel was that of Last House on Dead End Street. After that, I can't remember the rest of the details and if he said that the footage was unused or had been missing for some time. If I'm able to get in touch with him soon, I can ask him if he remembers the details and if he knows more about the status of the 3 hour cut - though I'm certain he'll just reiterate what was said here that it's probably long gone unless Watkins has it in his collection somewhere.
