Disney’s Coyote Tales was a TV movie directed by Robert Heath that aired on the Disney Channel in 1991. It was an extended remake of "The Coyote’s Lament", an episode of the 1961 anthology series Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color. Until this remake, "The Coyote’s Lament" was the last time that the characters Bent-Tail the Coyote and his son Bent-Tail Junior would make an animated appearance.

The TV movie was made with re-cut and re-dubbed footage of the original episode, but instead of being voiced by Walt Disney, the coyotes were now voiced by Jim Cummings, known for voicing many other Disney characters among other roles.

Plot

Like the original, Coyote Tales begins with a pack of coyotes sitting up on a hill performing the song "Yip Yip Yip Yowl" before being interrupted by Mickey’s dog Pluto barking in the distance. Among the Coyotes are an elderly Bent-Tail and an adult Junior who has a son of his own now. Both Bent-Tail and Junior teach the pup to be proud of being a coyote by telling him various different stories where they’ve had run-ins with Pluto which are foretold through a marathon of their old cartoons as flashbacks. Unlike the original, the movie also featured other classic Disney cartoons like The Whalers, Beezy Bear, and Lambert the Sheepish Lion.

Availability and Discovery

While the original "Coyote’s Lament" has surfaced, Coyote Tales hasn't. It hasn't re-aired on the Disney Channel since 1996[1] and no footage has surfaced on a public website like Youtube.

However, the movie is evidently available for viewing via Xfinity, but one would have to be using Comcast to access it. Additionally, there was an alleged Australian VHS release in 1992.[2]

The film has been broadcast very rarely in Germany, as recently as December 2016. That broadcast was recorded and is available here.

As of August 2nd, 2017, 1 minute of the English version of Coyote Tales had surfaced via camera recording from TayoEXE. The tape was finally ripped and released on August 19th, 2017. However, it was taken down by Disney after some minutes. On August 20th, he uploaded the recording on Google Drive.[3]

I found a link to an article here mentioning that it supposedly) aired again in August of 1996 http://artic...animal-tales and since I speculate more people had Disney Channel in 1996 than in 1991 (I believe it was once a premium channel) that should at least increase the hopes of someone having recorded it

Wikipedia claims it was released on VHS in Australia in 1992: https://en.w...cs#Australia

We could take this with a grain of salt, but I've noticed Australian releases of anything don't seem to show up on the international market very often.

The German version of it still exists (named "Disneys Kojoten wie wir"). I remember watching it, which had to be around 2006. Also, I found some sources, which listed that the movie was running on German TV at least in 2008 and 2012. Another source even stated that the movie ran on November 7th and 22nd, 2016 and is scheduled to run again on December 19th (and also on the 22nd & 23rd), 2016 on a German Pay-TV channel. I'm not sure if any of the sources can be trusted though (as you can see I found quite a lot of different air dates, which makes me doubt their credibility). After a bit of more searching I found even more air dates, which makes me doubt more. It's a shame I can't confirm it as I don't have Pay-TV. :/

But after I seached around the internet some more, I actually found the movie up for download. I have downloaded it to see if it is the right one and it actually is! I thought I should share it. I know it's not the Original version (it's the original German dub of the movie), which is quite a shame, but I thought it would be better than nothing. I tried to upload it on YouTube, but it got blocked worldwide because of copyright. I don't know how to share it now... :(

Alright, the site where I downloaded it from was a pain to use as it was split into a lot of parts (one of the downloads not working when trying to download it as a free user) and used Share-Online, which is frustratingly slow, so I uploaded it on Mega. Here it is:

https://mega...gUJBs33YDNtg

I'll upload it to dailymotion later as well. It'll be upped in two parts as it exceeds the 60 minutes cap, but more people can see it that way.

Hope the link works and have fun watching the movie. I'm happy I can help out in some way. :)

Yeah, I didn't know this is lost. I recorded a lot of Disney Channel as a kid back in the 90s. I grew up watching Coyote Tales all the time. It has the one with someone going camping and the coyotes try to steal their food, the bear who keeps trying to steal honey, and Lambert the Sheepish Lion. I've never heard of Coyote's Lament. I'm in a different state right now in college and away from home, but once I go home, I could try to record some footage or something if you'd like. I specifically remember the "Coyote Tales" logo appearing after their tails revealed it.

Okay, 1: Can someone clarify whether "Coyote's Lament" and "Coyote Tales" are in fact two separate films or the same film under two different titles?

2: Since Disney is being it's usual overreaching self, can whoever has a good copy of this put it up on Dropbox or something so it can be more broadly archived?

1. Coyotes Lament is the original cartoon, and Coyote's Tales was a mashup of old Disney cartoons mashed together with the Coyotes

2. TayoEXE was the only person who has yet to upload the English version of this. It is crappy yes, but that's all we have right now.

I say insulting Disney for their decision to take down the video isn't going to help our cause as with any media company; there is a chance that the original uploader or someone who saved a copy of the original video for the brief time it was up will take it to another video sharing website.

Also, all media companies around the world have to follow copyright laws, as Coyote Tales is still a property of Disney (and likely will always be) despite them not really caring about the TV film and is likely still in their vaults.

What I'm trying to say is that it's sad when media companies take down videos related to obscure media that is still their property (besides, this happens all the time), but they're trying to protect their property laws (I don't agree with them, but I won't resort to whining about their choice to follow the copyright laws).

Hi there, I posted above about the video splicing. I managed to clean up the audio well from the English version, but it was very difficult to sync with the video. I think one is PAL and the other NTSC so the timing is off. I'm not too savvy with video encoding, apologies.
