For Rent was a Canadian home renovation show that aired on HGTV. The show was hosted by realtor and designer Jodi Gilmour. It aired from 2009 to presumably the mid-2010s, given its five-season run. Despite how many episodes were developed and aired, many remain lost and have not resurfaced online.
Premise
The show revolves around realtor Jodi Gilmour helps renters find a rental property that fits their budget, and later helps them redesign it to their tastes. Gilmour also gave advice on navigating the housing market, including price negotiations and tips on saving money[1].
Known Info
Little is known about the airing schedule for the show. The first season is known to have aired on Monday nights at 8:00 pm[2], though it is not confirmed if this remained its time slot for later seasons. HGTV Canada's Facebook page made a single post talking about the premiere of season four, which listed the show as airing at 9:00 pm instead of 8:00[3]. The show’s first episode, centering around a teacher looking for a home, aired on December 29, 2008 [4].
The show began airing in late 2008, though it’s end date is not known. IMDb lists the show as having ended in 2010 after three seasons, though this is inaccurate. The HGTV website holds a full list of all episodes from all seasons of the show, revealing that the show had five seasons[5]. It is thus speculated that the show finished airing sometime in the mid-2010s, likely in 2012 or 2013.
Despite how many episodes were produced, only a handful of episodes have resurfaced online. The episodes are currently not available on any streaming service. Several episodes, mostly from season three, have been uploaded to the official For Rent YouTube channel[6].
