Status: Lost

Gauntlet II was the sequel to the game Gauntlet by Atari originally released in 1986 for the arcade. The magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly announced that the game was planned to released later in the year, along with Impossible Mission, both of which were said to be published by the company U.S. Gold. However, U.S. Gold instead got a conversion of the first Gauntlet that was later released in 1990 developed by the company Tiertex. It is unclear if the Gauntlet II port was reworked to match the first game, or if the code was rebuilt from the ground up to make the first one.

Gameplay

The game would have likely played very similarly to the version of Gauntlet I released for the Master System, with a few differences including being able to select what class you could play as regardless of color. The screenshot from EGM magazine shows a "blue" Wizard class and a "yellow" Valkyrie class, indicating that selectable classes was indeed planned for this conversion, as well as the banner on the top-right corner displaying the game's name.

Status

Despite the first game being released the year the game was announced, no prototype ROMs have surfaced anywhere nor is there any other information on the game by developers.
