Les Pastagums is a French animated series created by Pef and Alain Serres and directed by Bernard Deyriès. It originally aired in October 1993 on satellite channel Canal J, and aired on public TV in February 1994.

The show consisted of 26 episodes of 13 minutes each.

Premise

The Pastagums are a gang of seven young children at Pastagum school. They consist of Poucette, their leader who is a disabled girl who rides a wheelchair full of gadgets, Gabilu, a blonde imaginative girl who likes to daydream, Samira, a sensitive pigtail-wearing girl, The Emperor, a philosophical Asian boy, Labille, the short but athletic boy, Jim, the tall math-loving black boy and Romeo, a boy who's a good friend to them all.

The Pastagums often get involved in adventures that drive their scarf-wearing teacher Ms Mercure crazy as she tries to teach them things.

Availability

Only the opening theme has been shared online for years.

In 2023, two Portuguese-dubbed episodes have been uploaded on YouTube by user aurathomas.

A couple of VHS tapes were on sale on sales websites for years, but are no longer available.

Trivia

  • The series was dubbed in English and aired as far as South East Asia. However, the dub is quite obscure.
  • The animated series also had a few licensed books published alongside the show's airing, some adapting episodes of the cartoon. They were also written by Alain Serres and illustrated by Pef.
