Monster Jam World Finals 1 (lost footage of freestyle runs; 2000)
The Monster Jam World Finals is an event formerly held in Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada since 2000. It's an annual monster truck event that is the championship event of the Monster Jam series, consisting of racing and freestyle competitions. In 2019, its location was changed to the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.[1]
Lost Freestyle Runs
Monster Jam World Finals 1 was broadcast on The Nashville Network, on Pay-Per-View a day after the event took place and received a VHS release. However, of the 14 monster trucks that performed in the Freestyle competition, 3 freestyle runs were cut from all 3 of these releases. The 3 trucks in question were Prowler, driven by Dave Pezo, Reptoid, driven by Jim Jack, and the WCW Nitro Machine, driven by Charlie Pauken.
Trucks Performed That Were Not Seen in Broadcast
- Prowler, driven by Dave Pezo: The truck hit a car stack and performed a wheelie, only to get caught on a container. Score: 16.
- Reptoid, driven by Jim Jack: The truck blew out its motor before it could hit any obstacles. Score: 4.
- WCW Nitro Machine, driven by Charlie Pauken: What happened during the run is unknown, though photos show the truck with a flat tire and being towed away. Score: 19.[2]
Availability
As of April 2021, Prowler's run was found in the end credits of the Crash Madness 1 DVD, while Reptoid's very short run was shown briefly in the pinto of the pay-per-view broadcast. Images of the runs are also available.
On May 1st, 2019, an email was sent to Feld Entertainment (Monster Jam's parent company) about the footage. They replied, saying that they'll look for the lost freestyles and put them up on monsterjam.tv once they "get it up and running."
