Status: Lost

On April 17, 2014, funk band Vulfpeck released the EP Official Statement[1] in response to Spotify taking down their completely silent album, Sleepify. Official Statement was exclusive to Spotify and was removed by the band from their page for an unknown reason, on an unspecified date in 2018-2019.

Song List

The EP contains 3 tracks as follows:

  • #Hurt - 1:55, Described as bandleader Jack Stratton explaining the situation quote “[The email] was three paragraphs, and the gist of it was that while they enjoyed ‘Sleepify’ and thought it was funny and clever, it violated their terms of content. They are asking me to take down ‘Sleepify’ from their service, and I’m scared and I’m a little bit chilly. I’m hurt. I’m confused. I don’t know who to talk to, so I’m talking to you. And I know they have a legal team and everything, but I have Spotify, and they don’t”. In the track he also is described as saying that he is uncertain how the company will respond to the ‘Official Statement’ EP (it hasn’t made any public statement as yet), and that in light of that uncertainty he would like to take a moment to think about it. • #Reflect - 0:31, Described as 30 seconds of silence.[3]
  • Parted Sea (Strong Pesach) - 0:32, Described as a short piano instrumental track.
