Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live or プリティーリズムレインボーライブ (pronounced Puritī Rizumu Reinbō Raibu) is a Japanese anime that initially aired in Japan on TV Tokyo from April 6, 2013 to March 29, 2014 with a total of 51 episodes. The show is an adaptation of the Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live and Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live Duo arcade games developed by Syn Sophia and published by Takara Tomy. After all of the episodes aired in Japan, Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live received an official English dub that aired on Animax Asia beginning on June 24, 2014 for Southeast Asian audiences.
Synopsis
An 8th grade girl named Naru Ayase has the ability of seeing the colors in music when she listens to it. She is also talented in decorating, and has a dream of becoming the manager of the clothing store, Dear Crown. Naru would eventually apply for a job as the manager of a new clothing store called Prism Stone, a store that is known for performances called Prism Dance. With support from a mysterious girl named Rinne, Naru eventually becomes the manager of Prism Stone and would be joined with her new friends, Ann Fukuhara and Ito Suzuno. With their teamwork Naru, Ann, and Ito became the Prism Star idol group, Happy RAIN. The trio would rival against another Prism Star idol group called Bell Rose, consisting of three students from the Prism Star school Edel Rose - Bell Renjouji, Otoha Takanashi, and Wakana Morizono. Throughout her journey, Naru will have to face many hurdles. She would need to work her hardest in managing Prism Stone and in Prism Dance performances to achieve her dream of becoming the manager and face of Dear Crown.[1]
Availability
After Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live completed it's original run in Japan, all 51 episodes were later dubbed into English and aired on Animax Asia in 2014. Due to the Animax Asia English dub being mostly unknown to the general public, not all of the episodes of the Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live English dub are publicly available. The Japanese version of Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live has all of the episodes available online. As for the Animax Asia English dub, most of the episodes can be found online on websites such as GogoAnimeTV. Out of all 51 episodes of the Animax Asia English dub of Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live, only 1 episode is partially lost, and 4 episodes are completely lost. Episode 42 of the Animax Asia dub is partially lost, with only the first 45 seconds of the episode containing the original Japanese audio. As of June 16, 2023, episodes 26, and 49-51 of the Animax Asia English dub of Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live remains to be seen.
