Six matches held as part of sporting events aimed to improve Turkish-Soviet relations, the available newspaper reports indicate some ended with tons of controversy. Tensions reached a peak when Alexander Shchelchkov was the referee! The matches were the first overseas to be covered live by Soviet radio, courtesy of Vadim Sinyavsky. Speaking of Sinyavsky, consider this as a prologue for a future article... current

Turns out Ukrainian SSR played Moscow instead of RSFSR... and that Vadim Sinyavsky was not even in the radio industry yet when this broadcast emerged! Conducted in front of the five-year plan delegates, poor documentation meant the match would certainly be forgotten to time were it not for its radio significance. Virtually nothing is known about the second match that aired! current

Thus, several Russian sources consider this game as the first "official" broadcast of a football match in Russia. The final score pretty much reflects a title-challenging team vs one near the bottom of the table. current

Good choice considering Dynamo and CDKA were objectively the best teams in the Soviet Top League. This was a fun one to write about; I learnt about the intriguing ritual of exchanging bouquets before matches, something that utterly confused non-Russians! Also, commentator Vadim Sinyavsky's influence on sports radio... now there's a future topic to delve into! current

From what I gather, this was the first televised football match, albeit in pre-recorded form. Very little information is known about this broadcast and it has remained obscure outside Russia. Time for some more exposure, I think. The fact the match was filmed instead of merely televised live gives some hope that it may still exist, but somehow, I feel the lack of available information indicates it has long since disappeared.

Indeed, I have been seeking to write an article on Pelé's greatest goal for over a year, but couldn't find a decent source confirming a lost television recording. Finally, I've found the required sources, which sadly confirmed the tape was destroyed in an arson attack at Record's headquarters. The match itself was intriguing outside the famous goal, with Juventus putting up a decent fight before strong tackles and plays gave Santos glory. current

It is alleged in a lawsuit that the recon confrontation seen in the episode ended very differently, with thrown drinks, punches and a hyperventilated Jon Taffer. Of course, keep in mind this is what the plaintiff of the case claimed happened. That said, it was discovered that one involved individual had his shirt inexplicably change between recon scenes... could two different confrontations have been filmed? Quite possibly.

When MasterChef: The Professionals had such an incident in 2020, the rumour mill went in full swing... was it to do with violent conduct or an NDA violation with a shipping company? Turns out it was health-related, though whether it was down to poor contestant health or a COVID-19 protocol violation remains unclear.
