Stressed Eric (partially lost U.S. version of British animated series; 1998)
Stressed Eric was a British animated series created by Carl Gorham and produced by Absolutely Productions in association with Klasky-Csupo (only in the first season) for the BBC. The series lasted for 13 episodes over two seasons, both broadcast on BBC Two from 1998 to 2000.
However, once the series was brought over to the United States, a U.S. version was produced for NBC, where the titular character of Eric Feeble is voiced by Hank Azaria (who also serves as the producer for the dub) rather than Mark Heap from the original U.K. version, repurposing Eric as an American expatriate living in Britain.[1] Notably in that version, a completely different intro was used in place of the original U.K. intro to reflect the changed storyline, showing how Eric’s life went downhill and why he’s so stressed. Certain scenes were also cut due to time constraints (causing the original runtime of 25 minutes to be shortened to 22) and certain dialogue was changed for cultural purposes.
Availability
Only the first season was aired in the United States before the series was pulled from NBC's schedule, causing the second season to be left unaired in the States. Out of the show's 6 episodes, only 3 episodes of the U.S. version have resurfaced on YouTube, with the remaining 3 being nowhere to be found online.
