The Chronicles of Rick Roll was a planned movie that was written and produced by Andrew Fischer. The movie made its way around the internet in February of 2011, when a teaser trailer featuring Antoine Dodson (Bed Intruder song guy), Bear Vasquez (double rainbow guy), Ben Schulz (Leeroy Jenkins), Brian Collins (Boom goes the dynamite), Jack and Stephen Quire (Freakout kid and brother), and Gary Brolsma (Numa Numa guy). This quickly created hype for the movie and news outlets like CNN and Business Insider picked up the story. Actors like Mark Christopher Lawrence, John Henningan, and James Butler were rumored to be in the movie.

In November of 2011, director Andrew Fischer asked for $100,000 on Indiegogo. This was on top of the film's reported $60 million budget. The project on Indiegogo only managed to raise $1,441. The project's deadline was on April 3, 2012. After the project failed to gain the money needed, director Andrew Fischer posted this comment on the update section: "Unfortunately, this campaign was not a success. It appears that crowdsourcing is not ideal for projects of this magnitude. We do have a lot of exciting things in the works behind the scenes, however, and will continue to post progress updates on our Facebook page. And for those wondering, yes, we will be refunding all of the money that was contributed to this campaign. We appreciate all of you who supported us and hope you will continue to do so via word of mouth. If you have any questions about getting your refund, or if you have not received it by this upcoming weekend please get in touch with us and we will make sure it happens. Thanks, everyone!"

Despite failing to secure additional funding, this did not deter Andrew Fischer from trying to push the film out in time.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2012, Andrew Fischer held a private pre-production event where it was revealed the movie was slated for a 2013 release date. Soon the release date was pushed back to 2014. After 2013, no updates have been published about the movie. The movie was never released in 2014 after the 2014 pushback date. It is unknown what happened during the production of the movie and why it was never released. Most speculation points out to the fact that many of the jokes or memes were just simply outdated and the film would not have done well if it was released. It is also possible that the film was never able to get a studio to help finance and distribute the film.

Plot

The plot of the film is that a man must save the love of his life after they were sucked into the internet. The film was said to have taken heavy inspiration from Alice in Wonderland. Nothing else regarding the film's plot and direction wasn't released during production.
