1996 DeVilbiss SuperFinish 200

I was hoping you could clarify something regarding your article on the 1996 DeVilbiss SuperFinish 200.

In this article, there are two vague references (3 and 5) with no links presented to any source. I was wondering if you could help me in clarifying these sources and providing them with links.

Hello Crumbelivable. Please see the discussion on the page for more information. SpaceManiac888 (talk) 11:49, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Just posting here to note there's another broken reference on the previously mentioned page. See discussion on the page for more details Crumbelivable (talk) 15:59, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

WWF Attitude

Hi there,

Sorry if I'm breaking any LMW etiquette rules (I've never posted on here), but I saw that you created the article for the show WWF Attitude and thought you might be interested in this. (I looked for a "Talk" page on the article, like on Wikipedia, but couldn't find one.)

Anyway, there are actually like 20 seconds of this show available on Youtube. They're in one of the demo reels that host Chris Leary posted to his Youtube channel in 2010: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-21g45TLd6A

You can find the Attitude segment at the 3:25 mark. He titled the video as his "90s" reel, but the segment clearly aired in 2002, as he discusses the announcement of the first WWF brand extension/draft. Hope this is helpful! --Andresg770 (talk) 03:10, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

Hello Andresg770. Thanks very much for finding footage of perhaps the most obscure WWF/WWE show of them all! Much appreciated, does indeed show that WWF Attitude was not exactly valued even by its creators considering its generic logo for the time. On another note, no worries about discussing media on my talk page here. That said, while there are annoyingly no talk pages like on Wikipedia or older Wikia sites, if you scroll down to the bottom of the article, you can add comments there. But again, much appreciated regarding the find. SpaceManiac888 (talk) 09:02, 22 March 2022 (UTC)

hey man I'm sorry

I usually do all of that to remove unnecessary code from articles which makes them load faster. It's an OCD thing that I have, I don't mean to cause any harm. Like I did this for the article request page and removed over 3000 characters, and now the page loads way faster now. I know it's unnecessary but I just like doing it, again I'm sorry if it causes problems for you and everyone else, I love your articles and I think you're one of my favourite writers on here. -YoshiKiller2S

Honestly didn't see this until now. I apologise myself YoshiKiller2S, I was probably just grumbling over really silly things in the end. If your edits help improve performance and readability, by all means continue with it. And thanks, your image restorations are grand too. :) SpaceManiac888 (talk) 22:14, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

Racing Article Statement

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

So, it has been brought to my attention that there is great concern regarding the extent of lost racing media on the Wiki. Now, I will admit that if one is not a fan of motorsport, it probably is going to be a huge annoyance finding something that isn't about motor racing, especially if you delve into the first page of Lost Recordings of Real Incidents. From what I have heard, there are proposals being put in place to potentially tone down the extent of lost racing media (as well as others like Wiggles, concerts etc), and replace many of them with summary pages (perhaps based on year, circuit, event name like Daytona 500, etc).

To be honest, I actually do understand the concern over this. My plan when writing sports articles, which also includes football, professional wrestling and the like, is to encourage greater diversity within the lost media communities. After all, sports media tends to get overlooked within lost media organisations for some reason, not only on this Wiki, but also by official companies like Kaleidoscope. I am aiming to encourage sports fans to come and contribute, and help fill a void that will allow the Wiki to get even better and maybe further reach the mainstream considering sports' popularity. Indeed, we really could do with more articles on American football, baseball, cricket, and rugby, to name a but a few. But here's the crucial thing: If the racing articles are causing grumblings within the Wiki and discouraging some to read and/or contribute, it is probably time to do something that will ensure the Wiki's reputation and growth is sustained.

However, I'd imagine there are at least some racing fans on here, who wouldn't appreciate the information suddenly turning into dust. Based on the number of times a page has been accessed (which can be viewed at the bottom of each page), racing articles tend to attract at least 500 to up to 2,000 views in the first week of being published, which is not bad at all. Famous or NSFL races inevitably will attract thousands more. The fact YouTubers like NBR, NFJJ, Eye Ti Productions and others are creating NASCAR lost media videos is also a very encouraging sign that racing fans love talking about and finding obscure lost race broadcasts... even some that are not documented on the Wiki! Of course, nascarman History should be credited for getting the ball rolling in 2019, teaming with Brock Beard to list ten lost NASCAR and later IndyCar race broadcasts. Without him, I wouldn't know where to begin with documenting lost racing media! I hope one day he does another similar list, I regard him as the Richard Petty of lost racing media (for those wondering, Petty is nicknamed "The King" for his success in NASCAR).

Another factor is that the races documented may actually be appropriate and relevant for the Lost Media Wiki. The LMW loves obscure content of famous media. Sonic the Hedgehog, Sesame Street, the aforementioned Wiggles, you name it. Racing and other sports media is no exception, some of the races I have researched are obscure, with information primarily coming from the odd news report, blog, or racing result page. It seems Wikipedia and other wikis don't really care about such races oddly enough, so that is where the LMW steps in and prevents interesting obscure media from becoming lost to time, let alone being lost to the public. Finally, I do express concern that if we start to curb certain articles, will it create a slippery slope? For instance, there are plenty of LMW articles on Wiggles, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Sesame Street, Mario, Pokémon etc, all of which also get covered on YouTube. I am not particularly interested in any of this media, but for those who are, fair play. The trouble is, will this kickstart a trend where we see, for example, "I think there's too many Wiggles articles, we should delete or merge them"? I fear it may cause bad blood and accusations over gatekeeping, which will only damage the LMW's reputation and discourage future contributions. Not to mention, it may inspire "I like this media" or "I don't like it" arguments, which needless to say, serve no useful purpose.

Before I elaborate on the possible solutions regarding LMW's racing articles, there's an elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. There's been some concern that I am overly-obsessed with my article count, and care too much about the Iceberg I have created, to the point I would be in hysterics if someone was to delete or merge the articles I have written. Honestly, the Iceberg is no big deal to me. It, alongside writing the articles themselves, is just a bit of fun to me. Writing about lost media, or about any topics on any wiki, should be simply an enjoyable experience where one researches and learns some interesting facts, details it in a nice package, and maybe teach and even inspire communities in the process. I will never forget the weird and wonderful things I have learnt in the process of producing LMW articles. For example, I recently wrote about Dermot Morgan's lost screenplay for Miracle of the Magyars. In doing so, I became fascinated with the Irish and Yugoslav history within, and how the football match was one of Ireland's earliest rebellions against the Catholic Church in the country. Research matters to me more than an Iceberg or article count number ever can. There's also concern that I utilise some kind of template to write racing articles. Well, that is true, with template edits being accepted and encouraged on Wikipedia, Robot Wars Wiki, the Lost Media Wiki, and other wikis. It helps with quickly summarising basic content, before proceeding with the meat of the article, the stuff that's really important that cannot be replicated. I estimate it takes me about 1-2 hours to write a racing article when there are substantial sources covering it.

So overall, my work on the Lost Media Wiki is just a hobby for me, nothing more. If a famous YouTuber covers my Iceberg one day, great! If not, again, no big deal. I have work commitments, family occasions, adventures with my partner, meet-ups with friends, and other hobbies like gym, swimming, books (reading Skagboys currently), and walks. I'm not a "Lost Media King" or some egotistical thing like that, just a regular geezer from England who likes writing about lost media. I aim to keep it that way.

But enough rambling about myself, let's deal with the racing article situation. Weighing all sides of the argument, I have three main ideas on how to be resolve the situation. Some are more radical than others:

1: Re-categorise the racing articles (and other sports articles) into a new category called Lost Sports. This was suggested on the Lost Media Wiki Forums by tomatobhutan. In hindsight, I think this is a grand idea. As the user states, sport is a broad topic that has ingrained itself into many cultures across the world. Over here in England for instance, we are so sports-crazy that television companies like Sky and Virgin Media have created several television channels just for sport. Heck, Sky Sports has Main Event, Premier League, Football, Cricket, Golf, Horse Racing, Formula One, NFL, Arena, News, and Mix channels. This serves two purposes: first, to greatly satisfy sports fans across the United Kingdom, and secondly, to ensure non-sports fans are not stuck with just sports to watch by ensuring that sport is broadcast only on these channels. Similar is Sky Films, again to appease both film lovers and haters. I suggest we go ahead with a similar policy, moving all sport articles primarily from Lost TV and Lost Recordings of Real Incidents to the new Lost Sports category.

For those concerned the category is too specific, fear not, as we also have Lost comics (35 articles) and Lost puppetry (115 articles), both of which I support keeping but are also for more niche subjects compared to sport. Based on a quick count, the LMW has over 300 articles on lost sports-related media, and has clear expansion for more (for instance, I want to get the ball rolling on lost World Series broadcasts). This will benefit the sports fans, who finally have a true area for themselves to document sports media. For those who don't like sports media, the category is also great to prevent Lost TV and Lost Recordings of Real Incidents from ever being clogged up again. As long as one doesn't deliberately go to Lost Sports, they won't have to be annoyed by racing or other sporting articles ever again. Plus, it would be grand to see Reynard draw LMW-tan lifting the World Cup (bet Reynard is happy with France progressing to the Last 16!), scoring a touchdown, driving a race car (ha), or playing some other sport to present the category!

2: Create a Lost Sports Media Wiki. The most ambitious idea here, if there is a huge demand for lost sports media (and likewise, huge demand for lost sports media articles to not exist on the Lost Media Wiki), this could be a good solution. We may need to heavily promote this new Wiki to build the userbase initially, but I feel it can be its own thriving community given time. Providing the Lost Media Wiki and the Lost Sports Media Wiki are officially affiliated with one another (maybe Dycaite can help with that), there shouldn't be any real squabbling between the two. The main advantage with this new Wiki is that sports fans can write about a ton of lost sporting articles, no matter the obscurity, without irritating the non-sports fans who obviously won't be on said Wiki.

3: "Hide it in the woodwork". By this, I mean userfying all the racing articles that have been created on the Wiki. For those wondering what userfication means it essentially enables one to move stuff from the mainspace (e.g. 1971 Myers Brothers 250) to within the user namespace (User:SpaceManiac888/1971 Myers Brothers 250). All one needs to do is remove the category links, then move them all to the userspace, job done. I can do this job myself if you give me a few days. Means the lost racing articles are still accessible, a bit like those unlisted YouTube videos pretty much.

Overall, I think these are the best solutions that will appease both racing/sport and non-racing/sport lost media fans alike. All give lost sports media exposure but crucially does not over-expose it. Hopefully, we can all work together to reach a satisfying consensus. Just remember to stay within the top three parts of this pyramid.

All the best. SpaceManiac888 (talk) 22:14, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

Catch Phrase (2012) Pilot Footage

So the C21 Media website has a promo for the revived series and it uses footage from the pilot. [1]

--Comedyfan74(talk)

Thanks for this! Will be making an update on the pilot soon, also found a few images from an archived page. SpaceManiac888 (talk) 17:29, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Sports category

Hey, thank you for updating the sports articles to the new category!

However, I just renamed it to "Category:Lost recordings of sports events". If you'd continue renaming by using this category, that'd be great! Thank you Reynard

Sports category

I think a movement should be started "#LostSportsCategoryForLMW".

Article Requests

Hey man, now normally I would ask you this privately on Discord, but I don't know if you're on the LMW Discord.

I wanted to ask if you were willing to write an article on the partially lost early outline of the first Star Wars movie "Journal of the Whills."

The outline was written in early 1973, was only 2 pages long and only one of those pages has been released.

Now, I'm not really much of an article writer (hell, I've only written one) and with a borderline historic topic like this, I don't even think I could come close to giving it the polish it deserves.

Knowing you, you would make it absolutely incredible. (I'm also just shocked this hasn't already been made already)

I've linked some sources with info on the topic, please consider as I know the final result would be great. [1] [2] - YoshiKiller2S

Sure, I could give it a go! Will need to split time into writing this, and for a major merging project I am currently working on, but it should be an interesting one to say the least. Haven't written about Star Wars on the Wiki yet... this will make a fine addition to my collection. SpaceManiac888 (talk) 17:12, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

Catchphrase

Hey SpaceManiac888, hope you are doing well. Recently I made a video going into 10 Pieces of Lost Media in game shows and I decided to make the TVS era of Catchphrase one of the pieces discussed in the video. In the video I included a screenshot of Chris Perry from Kaleidoscope revealing on Facebook that Disney no longer has the masters to the TVS era of Catchphrase (with permission from Perry himself to use in the video).

Response to "Your 10 Pieces of Lost Game Show Media Video"

-No I'm no longer considering a sequel to the lost game show iceberg as I think the YouTube channel will do a lot of the topics justice than just an iceberg image. Also if you would like to use the image of Chris revealing the fate of the TVS episodes of Catchphrase for the article, be my guest.

Responding to your talk on the unaired Spitting Image Queen episodes

Oh my! I didn't expect to encounter another Spitting Image fan on this large wiki, let alone one who stumbled upon my articles! Yes, I did go and see Idiots Assemble at the West End and what a memorable musical it was! I'm also impressed by how many articles you've managed to write - over 500, what an accomplishment!

Now, granted, I'm not an expert of the 2020 revival of Spitting Image compared to the 1984 original so I'll try my best here. It does seem like there was going to be a third season of the Spitting Image revival with already filmed episodes at the ready for a 2022 release, given that there have been similar instances of nearly-finished shows or movies getting the boot (*cough* *cough* David Zaslav).

I am less motivated in making articles about the revival than the classic series, but you can also make an article about this yourself if you like.
