February 5, 1995.</ref> '''''Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi''''' was the second entry in the ''Wing Commander'' series of video games developed and published by Origin Systems.

==SNES Port==
In 1994-1995, a port of the game for the SNES system was in development, with a planned release in May of 1995.<ref>"Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi". GamePro. No. 69. IDG. April 1995. p. 133.</ref> Unlike the SNES ports of ''Wing Commander'' and ''Wing Commander: The Secret Missions'', which were developed by the company Mindscape, SNES port of ''Wing Commander II'' was developed in-house by Origin Systems.

The SNES version of ''Wing Commander II'' would have featured several differences from the original DOS version of the game; including more arcade-like game play, redrawn elements in the cockpit to fit the lower palette of colors available for the SNES, and a slightly rewritten script.

==Status==
The game finished development as both Electronic Gaming Monthly (in their April 1995 issue) and GamePro (in their May 1995 issue) printed reviews of the game, but the game was ultimately unreleased due to financial reasons, as sales of the SNES declined significantly after the 1994 holiday season and ''Wing Commander II'' required a larger and more expensive cartridge.
