Arwin! (also known as Housebroken) is an unaired spin-off of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, which was a popular Disney Channel sitcom. Produced by Walter Barnett and directed by Richard Correll, Arwin! was one of two proposed spin-off shows for The Suite Life of Zack and Cody that was pitched to Disney. Instead of having Dylan and Cole Sprouse (Zack and Cody), the series would have had Brian Stepanek reprise his role as Arwin Hochhauser, who was going to live with his sister to help her take care of her kids. An entirely new cast of characters would have also stared in the show with the most notable being Selena Gomez. One episode was filmed, but Disney Channel ended up not picking up the series.[1][2][3]

Background

As The Suite Life of Zack and Cody was nearing the end of its production, Disney was looking to expand on the success of the series through a spin-off. The pilot of Arwin! was filmed in March of 2007 with the episode titled Housebroken.

Disney Channel executives and audiences did not like Arwin!, as it did not feature any of the main characters from the original show. This instead resulted in Disney producing The Suite Life On Deck, which skipped the pilot process and went straight to series production in February 2008.

Another major contributing factor is that Selena Gomez was also offered to star in another show, which ended up becoming Wizards of Waverly Place.

Before Arwin! had a chance to air, the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike[4] on television happened, which effectively led to this show and many others being cancelled.

Plot

The plot of Arwin! revolved around Arwin Hochhauser (Brian Stepanek) as he moved out of his mother's house and into his sister's apartment to help her raise her children.
