Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad is a 26-episode anime adaptation of the original manga by Harold Sakuishi, originally airing in Japan from 2004 to 2005.

The Canadian music-oriented television channel MuchMusic began airing the anime on March 9, 2007. This was before the series was released on DVD, and could be considered a "rough cut" of sorts of the dub that Funimation placed on the DVD. It is likely that a number of changes were made from the dub that aired on MuchMusic and the dub on the DVD based on viewer feedback.

One notable difference confirmed between the DVD and the MuchMusic dub is the level of profanity. While there is a substantial amount of strong language in the DVD version of the dub, the version that aired on MuchMusic contains only mild bad language.

This original dub was at one point available from MuchMusic's website for Canadian users, however, was removed when they stopped airing the show. According to viewers of the online version, the music was shortened only in this version and was left fully intact on television.

No footage of the dub has appeared online or on any DVD release of the series.
