The show was panned by both critics and audiences alike, with the consensus being that the show wasn't in touch with what kids actually were interested in.  This is what likely lead the show to only last three months on Nickelodeon, making it one of the shortest runs for any show to ever air on the network. It is currently unknown how many episodes were produced for the show before its cancellation.

A still from the show.

Status: Partially Lost

Bing! The Sound of Something New was a children's magazine TV series that aired on Nickelodeon from January 13th, 1995, to April 8th of that same year. The show was hosted by television actor David Sidoni, where various popular lifestyle topics such as music, fashion, sports, and technology would be covered on the show.[1]

Premise

The show was hosted by David Sidoni, who is most known for his appearances on the Nickelodeon show Roundhouse, and eventually going on to host the short-lived children's game show Wheel 2000.[2]

The series would focus on showcasing new trends in pop culture, or what the show would consider the "next best things" at the time. It would have also profiled kids to get news on new trends as well as give a platform for their opinions in pop culture. This would include using "kid-on-the-street" interviews and online polls.[1]

Many of the segments featured include focusing on CD-ROM technology, snowboarding, and shaking movie theaters.[1][3] Other reviews state that there was also segments where the movie "The Baby-Sitters Club" was reviewed,[4] and a segment about a Guitar Hero-esque game.[5]

Availability

The show was panned by both critics and audiences alike, with the consensus being that the show wasn't in touch with what kids actually were interested in. This is what likely led the show to only last three months on Nickelodeon, making it one of the shortest runs for any show to ever air on the network. According to a primetime television directory, 10 episodes were produced for the show before its cancellation.[6]

Due to the show's short run on Nickelodeon and its general obscurity, the show has not been properly archived and remains mostly lost. No full episodes have ever resurfaced online, with only a promo for the show being uploaded by YouTube user Katie Stuckey on August 24th, 2009.

Various clips of the show were also found on two demo reels hosted on David Sidoni's YouTube channel, of which were discovered and uploaded by YouTube user OtherBrayBray on September 1st, 2021.

In September 2021, YouTube user theVHSfiles uploaded several commercial break videos from 1995 containing several promos for Bing! The Sound of Something New, featuring several newly-found clips of the show. These include several promos advertising the show itself as well as two "up next" promos. This wasn't noticed until November 27th, 2021, when YouTube user mejo kallamthanam reuploaded the promos by themselves.

On February 2nd, 2022, YouTube user PDCS216 uploaded the first three minutes of a full episode of Bing! The Sound of Something New, showcasing David Sidoni going backstage to interview the cast of the TV series Party of Five.

On April 2nd, 2024, YouTube user Vintage VHS posted 10 episodes from the show.
