Status: Partially Found

Calimero (カリメロ Karimero?) is an Italian/Japanese cartoon about a charming, but hapless anthropomorphized cartoon chicken; the only black one in a family of yellow chickens. He wears half of his eggshell still on his head. Calimero originally appeared on the Italian television show Carosello on July 14th, 1962, and soon became a popular icon in Italy.

The character has had multiple animated adaptations in Italy, France, and Japan, with one of the rarest being the first Japanese anime series made by Toei Animation, which ran from October 15th, 1974, to September 30th, 1975.

Availability

Episodes dubbed in European languages as well as in Arabic can be found online, but the series' original Japanese version is much harder to find. Unlike the second anime series made in 1992, there are no known VHS or DVD releases of the 1974 series in Japanese. There were 45 episodes made for the show. In September 2018, a user known as "Yuriko o" uploaded episodes 17-19 and later various others in Japanese on YouTube. Sometime between September 2018 and March 2019 his channel was terminated, making the episodes no longer available. However, they were all saved and re-uploaded on OneDrive by the Wiki user KristoHam. 24 of 45 episodes are currently found.
