Cartoon Network: Backlot Party was a cancelled party game for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS. The game was developed by Game Machine Studios and to be published by Little Orbit. It was originally slated for a 2015 release before information about the game halted, implying the game to be cancelled.[1]

Content

Backlot Party's premise was that the player was invited to experience Cartoon Network’s famous characters hanging out and partying after a week of acting in their respective shows. It would have featured at least 24 characters and at least 5 sets from Cartoon Network shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Regular Show, and Adventure Time.

The game was to have included at least 5 different minigames, including some common ones such as Dodgeball and a basketball game called Shoot to Win, alongside more ambiguous titles such as Backyard Chase, Girl Trouble, and Muriel’s In Peril. Some sources indicate an additional 2 games, known as Sneak-A-Catch and Go Jump-Ed.

History

On March 26th, 2014, Little Orbit made the announcement that they were publishing two new Cartoon Network games; one of them to based on Adventure Time (which was later released as Adventure Time: Finn & Jake Investigations), and another one based on multiple franchises.

The latter was announced to be Backlot Party in a press release around October of that year, and more information was given on the game. However, despite the press release stating it would come out that fall, no further information has been released past this point, officially or unofficially. Because of this, the game is presumed to have been cancelled.
