It sucks the recreation is being sold as an NFT. I've been openly against anything crypto, since aside from being bad for the environment, it's a blatantly harmful ponzi-scheme scam. Also, once you bought the NFT, all you get is a link with a receipt attached to it and not the edit itself, but if it gets deleted, it's gone forever. There's a lot of good sources as to why crypto stuff (like NFTs and the blockchain) is terrible, but I just found this article on a really good anti-crypto news site, and it has an article about wikimedia people being really unhappy about Jimmy Wales's decision to sell the recreation as an NFT (https://web3isgoinggreat.com/?id=2021-12-03-0), which is (sort of) related to this article about the initial edit.
