In the version we have available to us, Briolanja captures Amadis and she seeks to have children by him. She ultimately fails, but in at least one version, attributed to King Dinis of Portugal, Briolanja is made to have a few children by Amadis; reportedly, the king enjoyed this book but felt sorry for Briolanja's loneliness, and so he sought to change that small element of the plot.
