The title screen for the live-action series.

Status: Partially Lost

The 1996 Cybersix live-action television series is an adaptation of the popular 1991 comic book series of the same name. The live-action series recieved low ratings and was soon cancelled [1]. Only two full episodes are available online, along with another incomplete one, combined with multiple clips and promotional videos.

Plot

The story for the live-action series appears to be very faithful to the comic book series. It follows Cybersix, a genetically-engineered super soldier, designated 6th in the Cyber Series, who at a young age was able to escape the massacre of her brothers and sisters, ordered by her evil creator, Doctor Von Reichter. She runs away to the city of Meridiana where she lives a double life, hiding as a high school literature teacher, while as her superhero counterpart, fighting against Von Reichter and the creations he sends to destroy her.[2]

History

8 episodes for the series were produced in 1995 [3], the screenplay having been written by Rodríguez, as well as the series' original creators, Carlos Meglia and Carlos Trillo. The series stars Carolina Pelleritti as the lead character, Cybersix, Claudio Passano as her love interest, Lucas Amato, Verónica Ponieman as the student Lori Anderson, and Rodrigo De la Serna as the villain José.

The first episode premiered in early 1996 on the television channel, Telefe, in Argentina, with the last episode believed to have aired on May 15th of that year [4]. The series was then cancelled due to low ratings. The series is spoken in Latin American Spanish, however it may have also aired in Russia [5].

Availability

‘Un Secuestro en Meridiana’, which is believed to be the first episode, remained the only available episode for some time.

However, In 2020, the YouTube user TODO PARA VER uploaded a recording of the episode ‘Fratello Pippo’, albeit containing some faulty audio and being incomplete at only 28 minutes. YouTube user Keshiaim translated both of these episodes into English and uploaded them onto YouTube with optional English subtitles. Then in 2023, YouTube user augaki1 uploaded the episode ‘Doble de Cuerpo’, claiming it to be the last episode of the series.

On March 17th, 2024, Reddit user MagentaHamster announced on the Cybersix subreddit that seven episodes of the live-action series have been found. MagentaHamster said that Miguel Randolfe on the Argentinian website clan-sudamerica had recorded all the episodes from Telefe and digitized them, putting them on Google Drive. However, they also stated that parts of these episodes aren't complete, such as episode 4 missing its final scene. They also said that it is not certain if there was seven or eight episodes in total so its uncertain if the episodes are found or missing one episode.[6]
