The Dove Awards are awards given to achievements in the Christian music industry, similar to the Grammys. During the 27th and 28th Annual Dove Awards, Big Idea Entertainment, creator of the hit children's series VeggieTales, was given the Dove Award for Children's Music Album of the Year for their album, "A Very Veggie Christmas".[1] Both Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber made appearances (in CGI form) at the show to accept the awards in 1996 and 1997. While two of the segments resurfaced in their entirety, a third segment in video form is currently lost and only available in audio form, and it's unknown if there are more segments (aside from these three) that exist.
Availability
Two of the segments from the show are available in audio form from an older version of ultimateveggie.com, a VeggieTales fansite.[2] Video footage is available on the Dove Awards DVDs for the 1996 and 1997 shows.[3] Out of the audio clips from ultimateveggie.com, only the first segment has made it to DVD, as the DVD for the 1997 show contains a different clip. The other segment from ultimateveggie.com (as described above) is not on DVD and is still only available in audio form, but given that there are no audience sound effects or echoes in that one, it is possible the developer of ultimateveggie.com obtained the audio recording from Big Idea (given that the developer, Darren Sumner, was a former employee at Big Idea). Seeing as the webpage states it's from a special ceremony, it's possible that it wasn't aired.
Racelympics eventually bought two Dove Awards DVDs from said site, ripped footage of the two clips of Bob and Larry's appearances at the 27th and 28th Annual Awards DVD, and then uploaded them to Google Drive on October 29th, 2020.[4][5] Mr. Lunch then uploaded the clips to YouTube.
