Before ''Ni Hao Kai-Lan'' aired, there was a ''Nick Jr. Presents: My World'' show called '''''Downward Doghouse'''''. This is what everyone looked like:
'''''Downward Doghouse''''' was an animated series on Nick Jr. and a predecessor to ''Ni Hao, Kai-Lan''. It was a part of the interstitial series ''Nick Jr. Presents: My World''. Most of the characters remained the same between series minus some design changes, with the biggest change being that Hoho originally only talked in gibberish, although Rintoo and Lulu were not present at all (an earlier version of Lulu appears in ''Dragon Dance'' though). Three episodes of the short series are known to exist ("Follow That Slipper", "Where's Hoho?", and "Dragon Dance"). Of these three, "Dragon Dance" has been found and can be viewed below.
*Kai-Lan wore a long yellow dress. Her eyes were a little bigger. Her arms and legs were shorter. She had no flowers in her hair.
*Tolee wore a t-shirt with a panda on it and he had thinner panda slippers.
*Hoho stayed the same. He could talk, but he could only speak gibberish.
*There was no Rintoo or Lulu, though an early version of Lulu appeared in one short: "Dragon Dance".

Three episodes were known to be produced, titled "Follow That Slipper," "Where's HoHo?" and “Dragon Dance". Out of all the episodes, "Dragon Dance" is the only available episode on the Internet.
