Elvis Screen Tests (partially found films/screen tests; 1956)
Sometime in March of 1956, Elvis Presley recorded a screen test at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, California. This screen test was found and released in the 1980s. On March 26th and 27th, 1956, Elvis recorded two more screen tests, but these have not been released. On May 14th, he told a Minneapolis reporter:
"I took this screen test where I came in and was real happy and jolly and I didn't like it. I did this other one where I was mad at this girl, and I liked that better -- it was me."[1]
The screen tests may have been destroyed at Elvis' manager's request.
March 26th Screen Test
Around 9:00 pm, Elvis acted out a scene with actress Cynthia O'Neal. On May 14th, 1956. It is unknown whether or not this was from a movie script. There is only one confirmed still of this screen test, but it has been rumored that there is another still, but it has not been found or might not exist at all.
March 27th Screen Test
Between 1:00 and 2:00 pm, Elvis performed a scene from The Rainmaker, acting out the part of Jim Curry. There are more stills of this screen test than the March 26th screen test.
