Status: Partially Found

Gan to Gon (ガンとゴン Gan & Gon) is a Japanese comedy children's anime series produced by Jiho Eigasha (who infamous produced the notorious anime series, Hoshi no Ko Poron) and animated by Nihon Douga. The anime was aired from April 5, 1974 to August 13, 1975, for total of 260 episodes. at a length of around five minutes each, each having at least two minutes long.

Unlike Hoshi no Ko Poron, which had a strong educational feel, this series is a surreal gag anime.

Plot

Gan and Gon would be a pair of oddballs on a worldwide search for treasure. Gan would be an unsightly kind-hearted man of justice who would loved adventure but was a bit scatterbrained. Gon would think about sleep but, when it comes down to it, he would come up with some really crazy ideas (like a genius in disguise).

The pair would go boldly forth, do things like saving an Indian maiden from pursuing bad guys, competing with a group of horsemen, a peace officer and also, the ugly bunch that attacks our sophisticated heroes is no match for their comical power.

Status

While some episodes of Hoshi no Ko Poron 's recordings was found and uploaded to Internet in full (expect for the one episode which the first part is missing), no full copies of Gan to Gon were known to exist. However, a copy of a episode of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger was found in the possession of a user named morikawa confirmed that at least some of the Gan to Gon episodes do still exist.

During a Niconico stream on December 24, 2016 called "Hoshi no Ko Poron livestream", a episode called Protect the Oasis was revealed. It was later confirmed that something appearing to be the master copy has been bought on Yahoo! Auctions Japan.[1][2]
