Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz is a Japanese OVA series from 1997, which was re-edited into a theatrical film and again released in Japan on August 1, 1998. The Canadian youth channel YTV had the official English premiere of the film, premiering it on their channel on September 11, 2000, almost two months before its premiere on Cartoon Network in the United States.

However, this premiere is perhaps most remembered for what was determined as inappropriate marketing. Despite Endless Waltz being a darker and older-oriented film, YTV used the same type of comedic advertising for the film that they did for their younger-skewing shows and movies; some even believe that no one at YTV had seen the film when editing the promo. (The film also spoils several elements of the TV series, which YTV had only recently begun airing.)[1]

A nonsensical quote from the promo, "Endless Waltz has endless waltzes.", turned into a meme/inside joke among Canadian anime fans, to the point where it was at one point mentioned on the film's Wikipedia page.[2]

When the film was reaired in 2003, a different promo was used, likely due to the backlash towards the original. No recordings of the original promo have appeared online despite its legacy.
