Heathcliff: Bad Kitty is an unreleased animated feature film based on the comic strip of the same name. It was meant to be released in the holiday season of 2011 in an attempt to reinvigorate interest in Heathcliff, but it was cancelled for unknown reasons.

Plot

Little is known about what the plot would have been, but based on the footage that has been released, it most likely revolved around Heathcliff returning three "annoying kittens" to their parents.

Production

The film was going to be made by Waterman Entertainment/Magic Lantern Studios and distributed by 41entertainment. They were chosen because of their "impeccable track record" of Stuart Little, Alvin and The Chipmunks, and Casper the Friendly Ghost. The film and its following spin-offs were meant to bring back interest in the Heathcliff brand.

A trailer was released in March of 2010 and was storyboarded by Swinton Scott and Barry Caldwell. Both were contacted regarding the film, and had no new information, stating it was done for fundraising. The film's approximate release date was in 2011's holiday season and was ultimately going to coincide with a 2D-animated cartoon that would be produced by Renegade Animation and released in spring 2013, but neither of these projects came to fruition and were canceled in the end.

Existence

For a long time, no other footage of the film has been released, both of the storyboard artists who worked on the trailer said that they were never brought back, and one stated that it was done as a means to "raise dough" for the project. However, several press releases from the distributor of the film, then on March 11th, 2019 Youtube user Michael Dominguez uploaded a 12-hour loop a small piece of animation of Heathcliff in a fish store with the 1980's Heathcliff and the catillac cats intro played, before comments were off he replied to a user that he got it from footage of the film that was supposedly unfinished, unfortunately, said recorded footage of the film was deleted by the user who posted it, it could be possible that it may have been close to completion.[1][2]

As for the animated series, there is no evidence that any material for it was made.
