Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus is a comic science-fiction animated film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series Invader Zim. The film was to act as a revival of the cult-classic franchise to the series that had been cancelled abruptly by Nickelodeon in early 2002.[1] With this, many fan favorite characters would return, reprising their roles for the series. However, there was an exception: Tak, a female irken and minor antagonist from the original show, made no physical appearance in Enter the Florpus. Instead, her voice actor, Olivia d'Abo, voiced an Irken Ship that had downloaded Tak's AI. It was later revealed in an interview with voice actors Richard Horvitz and Simon Rikkis that Tak played a much more important role in the original version of the film. No further information about these scenes has surfaced.

Production & Plot

The film premiered on Netflix on August 16th, 2019.[2] The film was directed by Young Kyun Park, Hae Young Jung, and Jhonen Vasquez, who also served as the writer and creator of the series. Joann Estoesta worked on the film as producer.

The film is about Zim, an Irken invader, appearing again after years in hiding to debut his new diabolical plan, Phase 2. He later finds out that the Irken Armanda is schmillion light years away, and that his Irken leaders, The Almighty Tallest, loathe him with a fiery passion. This leads Zim to fall into a temporary state of deep depression, called Schmoop by his species. Dib Membrane, his arch-nemesis and paranormal investigator, sees this as his opportunity to shine. But nachos, pudding, friendship bracelets, space hijinks, and other bits of chaos ensue.

Speculation

In early press releases for the film, it was stated that voice actress Olivia d'Abo would reprise her role as Tak.[3] Nowhere in the press release does it state that d'Abo would be voicing Tak's ship, although this may have been done to avoid spoilers. Still, this leads credence to the theory that her character was to have a bigger role in the film.

Months after Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus had officially premiered, voice actors Simon Rikkis and Richard Horvitz attended GalaxyCon Minneapolis 2019. At a Q&A panel, a fan asked if Tak would return to the series. Horvitz and Rikkis both answered that Tak was supposed to appear in Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus as a Moo-Ping 10 prisoner who escapes, but her scene was cut for time. Little information was given, and due to the nature of Q&A panels, Horvitz and Rikkis couldn't delve on the question for long.

Availability

With the exception of Horvitz and Rikkis testimony, no further information on these lost scenes has surfaced. Horvitz stated that these scenes were edited, which heavily implies that they might have been completely finished before being cut.
