John Smith: Special Agent was the original version of the 1992 NES version of James Bond Jr. The game is a side scrolling 2D action platformer developed by Eurocom. According to Chris Shrigley, a programmer for the game, after the game was finished, they were unable to find a buyer and the team eventually abandoned it. The game was then picked up by THQ and reworked into James Bond Jr.
