Last Leap (originally Le Dernier Saut) is a 1970 French crime film directed by Edouard Luntz.

Premise

The film is about Garal, a veteran paratrooper who murders his Vietnamese wife after accidentally finding her committing adultery on a sudden home visit during his last days in the army. After the murder, Garal clears up incriminating evidence and returns to his army base, where his roommate helps him come up with an alibi to cover up the murder. A week later, Garal moves to Villeneuve, where he is informed by Commissioner Jauran that his wife's lover has been found guilty of the murder. A strange mutual friendship soon flourishes between the two men, with Jauran completely unaware that Garal is the real murderer. Soon a chain of events, starting with a railway ticket in possession of Garal, begins to arise, making Garal increasingly suspicious and Jauran is forced to make a choice between protecting his friend and serving justice.[1]

Availability

Despite the fact that the film entered the 1970 Cannes Film Festival[2], it has never been re-released in any form at the time.
