Mariah Carey is a famous singer/songwriter who's career has spanned over three decades. She's known for her hit singles We Belong Together, Always be my Baby, Fantasy and One Sweet Day, which holds the distinction of having the longest stay at #1 in billboard hot 100 history (16 weeks). In 1995, Mariah Carey recorded and released one of her most successful albums, Daydream, which went on to be certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America, as well as getting universal praise from critics and fans alike.[1] In total, 5 singles were released off of the album, 3 of which went #1 (Fantasy, One Sweet Day and Always be my Baby), the other two failed to make an impact on the charts (Open Arms and Forever).[2] However, there was also a sixth single that was released from the album, and even a music video was shot for it.

Underneath the Stars

The song was titled Underneath the Stars. The song has a very smooth R&B feel to it and Carey is very subtle in her vocal delivery of the song. The song received very little promotion in the US and none in foreign countries, despite it being one of Carey's favorite singles of the album. In fact, the song only reached #69 on Billboards Hot R&B /hip-hop airplay chart.[3] Despite the lack of promo, a music video for the single was filmed, but never released publicly. According to a post by Carey herself on twitter "...I actually shot a video 4 "Underneath The Stars" in France & England that never got released & I don't know where it is!"[4] It's very likely that Columbia, a division of Sony and Carey's recording label at the time, may have a copy of the music video. However, given the fact that Carey hasn't worked with Columbia since 1999 and that they were very controlling of her musical efforts, only releasing what they feel would generate them the most money, the odds of them releasing the music video over 20 years later are slim to none.
