Screen Songs were animated cartoons produced by the Fleischer company (known for making the Betty Boop series). They were a continuation of Fleischer's own Sound Car-Tunes. Their run was very limited in terms of theaters (36 theaters), but they had a long run, lasting from 1929 to 1938.

Mr. Gallegher and Mr. Shean is a lost 1931 installment in this series featuring Al Shean of the comedy team Gallegher and Shean.[1]

Synopsis

For this short, Al Shean is the only star of the show because Gallegher had unfortunately died in 1929. He sung their famous theme song," Mr. Gallegher and Mr. Shean", with a bouncing ball allowing the audience to sing along too.

Availability

This film is lost and has been for years. It was rumoured that Jack Miller, a character actor, had performed the role of Gallegher, but according to a review on l.M.D.B., by a man who claims to own a 35mm print of the film, this is apparently not the case.
