On January 4th, 1988, the Nick Jr. programming block was put on the air for the first time. However, it wasn't until six years later on September 5th, 1994 that Nickelodeon rebranded the block. With that rebrand, came along a mascot known as Face. Face, voiced by Chris Phillips at the time, was a bumper would appear in between shows to say what was up next as well as tell a joke or sing a song and essentially acted as the block's main mascot.

In 2003, Face was given a redesign which gave him eyebrows, bigger eyes, a different mouth, and a new slightly deeper voice (Played by Jody Nazzaro and Jun Mizumachi). The redesign was panned and criticized by many viewers. This ended up leading Nickelodeon to just get rid of him entirely in 2004 and replace him with Piper the Possum. These promos are mostly lost except for some that have been uploaded to Youtube.

The voice of this version of Face sounds to me like Paul Jacobs, a songwriter for Sesame Street, and co-creator of Between the Lions, which coincidentally featured Chris Phillips.

I remember once having a nightmare about this face (specifically, a green version) running a dystopian dictatorship. The dream in question was a giant television parading down the street with a huge marching band in front of it while a bunch of people (myself included) were hiding out in some sort of semi-underground wooden hut. I don't remember if it was the original face or the redesigned one, but I do still think it's a weird dream for someone who was 4 or 5 to have. I woke up honestly terrified.

I remember one where he announced Maggie and the Ferocious Beast. I remember him making "ferocious" faces. Not sure if it was the original Face or the revamped one, but I'm pretty sure it was the latter.
