Maria Helena, daughter of Don Rafael Zomora de Juncal, one of the richest men in Havana, falls in love with Alfredo Martins, whose family is rival of Juncal family, and gets pregnant. Alfredo tries to convince Maria Helena to make an abortion but she refuses. When Albertinho gets born, Dolores takes him out of the city, because his life was menaced by Don Rafael.
