Status: Partially Lost

Party Girl was a television adaptation of the film of the same name that was released a year before the premiere of this series. The show is about a woman named Mary, played by Christine Taylor, who throws parties and clubs, especially after her mother passed away, but is given a chance after being hired by her godmother, Judy, played by Swoosie Kurtz.

Airing

The show aired on FOX on Monday nights, starting on September 9th, 1996, alongside another show called Lush Life. The first four episodes aired up until the 30th.

While the first episode reportedly did okay in ratings, it slipped immediately afterwards, and by the third episode the show was rated in 95th place out of 107 shows the week it aired. That, alongside with very lukewarm critical reception, was spelling doom for the show. After the fourth episode aired FOX announced that it would be taking a "short hiatus" and the other two episodes would air later on down the line, however this never happened and the show was outright cancelled.

Availability

So far only four of the 6 episodes have seemed to surface online on YouTube. The pilot of the series is available as well as episodes 2-4, but episodes 5 and 6 are still lost because they didn't even air in the original broadcast of the show. Additionally, there seems to be no home media release at all.

While the two unaired episodes have yet to be publicly seen, descriptions of them have been written in the book Forgotten Laughs.[1]
