'''"The Cards"''' (Karty in Polish or alternatively Playing Cards) is the formerly lost episode of the Czechoslovakian animated series ''A je to!'' (''Sąsiedzi'' in Polish, ''...and that's it!'' in English). It was made in 1998 by some of the original AIF Studio makers, however without the rights of Lubomir Beneš's heirs. This was supposed to be the beginning of the new format the show was going to have. It was directed, animated and written by František Váša. It was different from earlier episodes and filmed in widescreen format (16:9), it was longer than all of the aired and existing episodes (lasting 12 minutes), had a dialogue, an entirely new soundtrack and new opening and closing sequences.
The episode production probably lasted 4 months, due to its length, 11 minutes and 20 seconds. The famous Czech actor David Nykl dubbed the characters.<ref>[https://www.annecy.org/about/archives/1999/official-selection/film-index:film-990355 An archived article about David Nykl voicing the characters.] Retrieved 31 Mar '19</ref> A lot of money from the aiF studio has been stolen, most likely this money was to be used as a budget for the production of new episodes.
Marek Benes and Vladimir Jiranek left the aiF studio in 1998 announcing the bankruptcy of the studio,
Combined this situation with the lack of copyright to the characters and that the heirs forbade publication, the episode has never been broadcast on television or never been released on DVD.
In 2002, the Korean studio branch, aiF Asia, released two cassettes with ''Pat and Mat'' with English dubbing for educational purposes, among the episodes on these two VHS cassettes, there was an episode titled "Cards".
In 2012, one and a half minutes of an episode without sound appears unexpectedly on the Internet.<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBOPepgS-sw One and a half minutes worth of footage from the previously lost episode.] Retrieved 31 Mar '19</ref>
On March 13th, 2014. A YouTube user named "이은석" uploaded the episode onto his channel with English dubbing and subtitles. This episode was supposed to be the start of a new series. In plans, there was a total of 52 episodes and a feature film.<ref>[https://web.archive.org/web/20180407054039/http://patandmat.com/PM_About.html An archived site which mentions the 52 episodes and the feature film.] Retrieved 31 Mar '19</ref> However, it was canceled just around the time "The Cards" was supposed to be originally aired.
