The Legend of Dratini is the 35th episode in the popular Pokemon anime, and is notorious for having been banned from international distribution. The episode has been sought after since it surfaced that the episode was in fact dubbed into English by 4Kids International, but withheld from syndication due to controversial scenes involving the trigger-happy Safari Park warden Kaiser shooting at Ash, Brock and Misty, and also Team Rocket, who later threaten the warden with firearms when they hold him hostage.

The episode was originally aired on the 25th of November 1997 in Japan, and is available online with subtitles.[1]

Voice actors for the English dub of Pokemon have confirmed[2] that the episode was dubbed. An old listing on the American pokemon.com website (dating back to 2000) seems to also confirm the episode's existence and potential broadcast (albeit with no English title).[3] However, like with the case of Electric Soldier Porygon, this episode was banned and never broadcast outside of Japan. Since every studio that localised Pokemon for different territories based their version on the 4Kids English dub, the episode was skipped over.

Footage from the episode, however, remains in the Pokerap segments.[4] Also of note is the fact that in the episode, Ash catches a herd of Tauros in the Safari Zone, which show up in later episodes with no explanation as to how he obtained them except for a vague flashback.
