Shōnen Majutsushi Indy (lost build of cancelled Famicom role-playing game; 1992)
Shōnen Majutsushi Indy (少年魔術師インディ, Indy the Magical Kid) was a cancelled role-playing game for Famicom, developed by Graphic Research and scheduled for release by IGS. This game is based on a gamebook published by the Japanese publisher Futabasha. The scenario was written by the original author Naomi Inoue, character design by manga artist Hiroshi Fuji, enemy monster design by Yuuichiro Shinozaki, and composers by Inoyama Land.
Overview
Indy, an apprentice sorceress in training, sets out on a journey to save five magical worlds that have been taken over by demons at the behest of her mentor Azazel. The gameplay is based on magic as the main attack in combat. And one of the main features of the game is that magic is created by the player's own hands. Place the medicinal seeds you buy at the store or get when you defeat an enemy at 7 locations in the magic circle. If the conditions for mixing the seeds are met, the requested magic can be created. There are a total of 100 types of magic that can be created, and information on the conditions for mixing medicinal seeds can be obtained by asking people.
Prototype ROM in auction
Prototype ROM suddenly listed on Yahoo auction on May 19, 2019. Forest of Illusion, crowdfunded the game by raising a large sum of money to save it. But this game was purchased by a private collector in Japan for 1,501,000 yens. The collector left a message saying, "I bought it to prevent copies from being sold overseas, and I will protect this game as a Japanese treasure."[1] This message angered and disappointed many who had been waiting for the game.[2]
Avalability
It is highly likely that the prototype ROM is still being kept by its collectors today. Unless that prototype appears again in some form or another, the game will be lost forever.
