One of three incidental model sheets shared by SpongeBob creative director and showrunner Vincent Waller on his Twitter account.

Status: Partially Found

The SpongeBob SquarePants incidental model sheets are a series of model sheets for the various background characters used on the show, known as "Incidentals" by the show's crew. Some of these have been made available thanks to members of the SpongeBob SquarePants crew and the asset disc for the Playstation video game SuperSponge, but many remain unavailable.

On August 1st, 2017, storyboard artist Adam Paloian uploaded on his Twitter the model sheet for one incidental from a larger group for which the complete sheet hasn't been made available yet, specifically Incidental F4 from the "F__" incidental group, originally designed for the episode "Culture Shock". On February 8th, 2018, Vincent Waller uploaded three of the main incidental model sheets to his Twitter. It is unknown as to when the specific version of the three incidental sheets posted were created, but they also can be seen in the SpongeBob episode "Goons on the Moon".

It should also be pointed out that several numbers are labeled as being "non-existent" (e.g. Incidentals 120-149), indicating that there were earlier drafts of these sheets with those cut incidentals. According to storyboard artist Jay Lender, the models for those incidentals were lost during design revisions that took place during Season 2.[1] The numbers of some of these cut incidentals have been revealed thanks to several storyboards, but many remain unidentified. However, Lender has stated that if the model for any of these incidentals was found, they could return to the show. Some of the cut incidentals have returned to the show, including Incidental 33, Incidentals 95-101, and Incidental 109. Besides the main incidentals, there are several other special sets of background characters used on the show, most notably the aforementioned "F__" incidentals, the "G__" incidentals (originally designed for "I'm Your Biggest Fanatic"), and the "T__"/"Teen" incidentals (designed for "The Chaperone"), among others. Although we know the numbers of many of those incidentals thanks to storyboards, their actual model sheets (besides F4's) have not been publicly shared.

On the 20th of the same month and year, Waller also posted the sheet for the "A__" incidentals, designed for the feature film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. On November 4th, 2018, Adam Paloian uploaded his character designs for the "HB__" incidentals, created for the Season 11 episode "Karen's Virus", to his Twitter account, and in January of 2019, he also posted the model sheet for the "EHS__" incidentals there, most of which were designed for "The Nitwitting", although some are repurposed character designs from earlier. The model sheets for many of the "200" incidentals (the citizens of Rock Bottom from its eponymous episode) were discovered via the asset disc for SuperSponge, although there are obvious gaps in the sheets in terms of the incidental numbers.
