Supposedly, a little known game company Orpheus was going to make a port of Super Mario Bros. to the Commodore 64 in 1986, until Nintendo rejected to give them the license.
Little is known about the game and it is possible that they didn't even start on it, though it is possible that they created a demo level. The only reference of this game is the Games That Werent 64 article.[1]
