==Gameplay==
The player controls either Mario or Luigi and perform actions similar to ''Super Mario Bros.'' and ''Super Mario Bros. 2'' (Japan and USA) but there are new elements such as run or walk with Koopa shells, fly diagonally, and slide down slopes to knock down enemies on screen. The game also introduced new power ups like the raccoon leaf, a hammer suit, a frog suit, a tanooki suit, a P-Wing, and a Goomba shoe. The game introduced items that help your character to advance such as a warp whistle, a hammer, a music box, a level skipping cloud, and an anchor.

According to the ''Famimaga'' preview and screenshots in media and early releases of the game having screenshots of the prototype on the back of the box, there are elements in the prototype not present in the final version such as the status bar containing the text "MARIO" instead of a text of a world taking place, Para-Beetles appearing in levels but were removed in the final version but they made a later appearance in the bonus e-Reader levels in the GBA remake, and some levels being constructed differently. Aside from the ''Famimaga'' video and screenshots, there is little information about the prototype. It is possible someone is in possession of the cartridge or it is stored away in the archives of Nintendo.

Status: Lost

Super Mario Bros. 3 is an action platformer video game published by Nintendo in 1988 in Japan on the Famicom and in North America in 1990 on the NES. Remakes of the game were released on the SNES in the 1993 video game compilation Super Mario All-Stars and another one based on the All-Stars version released on the Game Boy Advance 10 years later.

Changes

According to the Famimaga preview and screenshots in media and early releases of the game having screenshots of the prototype on the back of the box, there are elements in the prototype not present in the final version such as the status bar containing the text "MARIO" instead of a text of a world taking place, Para-Beetles appearing in levels but were removed in the final version despite returning in the bonus e-Reader levels in the GBA remake, and some levels being constructed differently.[1] Aside from the Famimaga video and screenshots, there is little information about the prototype. It is possible someone is in possession of the cartridge or it is stored away in the archives of Nintendo of Japan.
